Edinson Cavani's agent has dismissed speculation linking his client with a switch from Paris Saint-Germain to AC Milan, stating the Serie A side lack the financial strength to afford his client.

Cavani, who scored 31 goals in 52 matches in all competitions last season, helped Paris Saint-Germain to a third consecutive Ligue 1 title and a domestic treble last term, but that has not stopped persistent rumours of an exit.

A return to Italy, where he made his name for Palermo and Napoli prior to joining PSG in a big-money deal in 2013, has been touted as questions continue to be asked about the 28-year-old's satisfaction at playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Parc des Princes.

The rebuilding Rossoneri, now backed by Thai investor Bee Taechaubol, have been suggested as a possible suitors, though those rumours have since been quashed by Cavani's representative.

"I can't see any clubs in Italy who could pay the necessary figures for a player of the calibre of Cavani," Claudio Anellucci told Calciomercato.

"Besides, Edinson was very clear about his future, he's happy in Paris and intends to stay at PSG. There's nothing more to add."

Milan are searching for reinforcements to improve on last season's 10th place finish in Serie A, with the club looking to add a big name in attack for new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.
