3 Villa players disciplined after nightclub fracas

Three Aston Villa players were disciplined by the Premier League club for their involvement in an incident outside a nightclub.
Wales defender James Collins and young midfielders Fabien Delph and Chris Herd were involved in the fracas early Tuesday, hours after the Midlands club had staged its annual awards ceremony.
All three players issued apologized on Friday, with the fines imposed split between two charities.
''It's a slur on the club ... the players need to show some respect for themselves and the football club,'' Villa manager Alex McLeish said.
Villa is fighting to stay in the Premier League, lying three points above the relegation zone with two matches left after failing to win a match in nearly two months.
''Some players broke the rules, so we acted very swiftly on Tuesday,'' McLeish said. ''We're very disappointed.''
Delph is currently injured but Collins and Herd could feature in Sunday's match at home to Champions League-chasing Tottenham.
''They owe us. They have to give us a performance that we will be proud of,'' McLeish said.
