More than 100 youths attacked a Panathinaikos fan club in downtown Athens, leaving three people hospitalized with stab wounds.

Police say three people have been detained for questioning following the mayhem in the central Petralona area of the capital.

It was the latest sign of trouble in Greek soccer despite a government campaign to crack down on violence and corruption in the sport.

The Greek league started last weekend with three of the 16 teams in the top division still to be determined because of a major match-fixing scandal.
