Sixteen-year-old Caitlin Foord has won the Women's World Cup young player of the tournament award for her outstanding performance in Australia's midfield and defense.

FIFA expert April Heinrichs said that ''at just 16 years, she is dynamic on the ball and off the ball. She has the ability to play attack and the ability to play defender.''

She was picked from all players under 20 at the tournament.

Australia made it out of the group stage but lost to Sweden in the quarterfinals.
