BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe (AP) Graeme Cremer won the toss and chose to bat in the first test against New Zealand on Thursday, Zimbabwe's return to the five-day format after a gap of nearly two years.

Both teams will be under new captains for the first time in test cricket, with New Zealand's Kane Williamson leading the visitors and Cremer the hosts.

Williamson has experienced players in Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor alongside him in New Zealand's lineup.

Zimbabwe selected three players to make their test debuts: Batsmen Chamu Chibhabha and Prince Masvaure, and seam bowler Michael Chinouya.
