ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Younis Khan showed he was well past illness as he moved closer to a century for Pakistan against the West Indies on the first day of the second test on Friday.
Younis missed Pakistan's 56-run victory in the first day-night test because of dengue, but was 84 at tea, shared two solid half-century stands, and led the team to 205-3.
He was lucky to still be in, as Kraigg Brathwaite missed a sitter off his own bowling just before tea.
Younis and Asad Shafiq (68) enjoyed a compact 87-run third-wicket stand until Shafiq played onto Shannon Gabriel's delivery in the only West Indies success in the second session.
Gabriel provided the West Indies an ideal start when he had first-test triple century-maker Azhar Ali clean bowled for zero in the fifth over after Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat.
Devendra Bishoo had left-hander Sami Aslam's leg stump knocked back off a vicious turning delivery, then Younis steadied the innings with Shafiq, and added 76 more runs with captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who was unbeaten on 35 at the break.
Pakistan rested fast bowlers Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir from the team which won at Dubai, replacing them with Rahat Ali and Zulfiqar Babar while Younis replaced Babar Azam.
West Indies had to make one change, when wicketkeeper Shai Hope replaced the injured Shane Dowrich.
