NEW YORK RED BULLS 2, SPORTING KANSAS 1
HARRISON, N.J. (AP) -- Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his MLS-leading 21st goal of the season to help the New York Red Bulls beat Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on Saturday night.
Wright-Phillips scored on a penalty kick in the 11th minute for New York (8-8-10) after he was tripped by Matt Besler. Thierry Henry made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute, curling a shot from the corner of the 18-yard box past goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum.
Dominic Dwyer had an answer 2 minutes later for Kansas City (12-10-6). Seth Sinovic headed Graham Zusi's free kick to the top of the 6-yard box and Dwyer sent home his 18th goal of the season.
DYNAMO 3, IMPACT 2
HOUSTON (AP) -- Giles Barnes scored two goals to lead Houston past Montreal.
Barnes started the scoring in the 30th minute for Houston (9-13-4). He capitalized on a defensive mistake, dribbled down the field on a breakaway and rolled one past goalkeeper Evan Bush.
Montreal's Dilly Duka tied it in the 40th minute. A series passes set up Duka's rolling finish from the top of the box. In the 55th minute, Ignacio Piatti's fast-break goal put Montreal (5-16-5) in front 2-1.
Houston responded with two goals in 3 minutes. Barnes redirected Omar Cummings' cross in the 62nd minute, and Ricardo Clark cleaned up Brad Davis' corner kick at the far post in the 65th.
REAL SALT LAKE 2, FC DALLAS 1
SANDY, Utah (AP) -- Alvaro Saborio scored on a header off Javier Morales' corner kick in the 77th minute to break a tie in Real Salt Lake's victory over FC Dallas.
Saborio entered as a substitute for Olmes Garcia in the 76th minute for his first action since a 188-day absence due to a foot injury.
Robbie Findley opened the scoring for Real Salt Lake (12-5-10), gathering a loose ball from defender Chris Wingert's errant deflection and drilling it home in the 31st minute.
Michel tied it for FC Dallas (12-9-6) on a free kick in the 62nd minute. He blasted a left-footer from just beyond 18-yard box directly into the bottom-left corner.
Real Salt Lake avenged a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas on Aug. 22 and stretched its lead over the Western Conference foe to four points.
D.C. UNITED 0, WHITECAPS 0, TIE
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Vancouver was shut out for a fourth straight game in settling for a 0-0 draw with D.C. United.
Vancouver (7-6-13) earned a point against the best team in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference, but has now gone 411 minutes since it scored in a 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City on Aug. 10.
The 0-0 draw was the fifth of the season for the Whitecaps, 1-3-6 in their last 10.
United (14-8-5) padded its lead in the East, improving to 3-1-1 over its last five.
UNION 2, TORONTO FC 0
TORONTO (AP) - Conor Casey and Andrew Wenger scored first-half goals in Philadelphia's victory over Toronto.
Philadelphia beat Toronto for the second time in three days, with Casey scoring in both games. The Union (9-9-9) are 5-1-3 in their last nine games.
Toronto (9-11-6) has lost three straight is winless in five (0-4-1). The game was the first at home for new Toronto coach Greg Vanney after he replaced Ryan Nelsen last Sunday.
