'Wipe the field' comment earns Buckeye receiver media ban

Ohio State wide receiver Evan Spencer's quote on Monday earned Spencer a trip to his head coach's office.
On Tuesday, Urban Meyer said Spencer won't be talking to the media again "for a while."
A day after Spencer said he thought No. 3 Ohio State would "wipe the field" with the other top-ranked teams in the BCS standings before admitting "that's my bias speaking," the issue was brought up to Meyer on the weekly Big Ten coaches teleconference.
"I'm very disappointed," Meyer said. "I can't stand that. He's certainly not the spokesman for our team.
"I know Evan well enough. I talked to him briefly. You don't do that. It's not good sportsmanship."
Spencer and Ohio State spokesman Jerry Emig took to Twitter Monday night to clarify his comments. Spencer wrote that he "should have chosen (his) words more wisely. There was no intent to disrespect another team."
