Wildcats hit 7 home runs in sweep of Lobos

TUCSON, Ariz. – Shelby Pendley hit three of Arizona's seven home runs in an 8-1, 5-0 sweep of New Mexico on Wednesday in non-conference softball action. The two wins improved Arizona's record to 31-12.
Pendley now has 17 home runs this season, four short of the Arizona freshman record, set by Brigette Del Ponte in 2010. Lini Koria homered twice, giving her 11 for the season. Shelby Babcock and Kenzie Fowler eached picked up a victory, combining to give up just one run on seven hits.
Five of the home runs came in the first game -- two each by Pendley and Koria and one by Chelsea Goodacre. Babcock (16-7) got the victory, giving up one run on four hits and three walks.
Hallie Wilson and Chelsea Suitos also chipped in a pair of hits for the Wildcats offense.
In the second game, Fowler (13-5) struck out 11 and shut out the Lobos on three hits.
Pendley and Kristen Arriola accounted for Arizona's sixth and seventh home runs of the day.
