ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild wanted to add organization depth in the way of two-way contracts and did so Friday by agreeing to terms with defensemen Jonathon Blum and Jon Landry. Both agreed to one-year, two-way contracts, giving Minnesota the option to use either in the NHL or with the Wild’s affiliate in the American Hockey League, which is beginning its first season in Iowa next year. Blum, 24, played in 35 games for the Nashville Predators last season with one goal and six assists. In three seasons with Nashville, Blum has seven goals, 15 assists and 20 penalty minutes in 91 career NHL games. He had one goal and 11 assists in 34 games in the AHL last season with the Milwaukee Admirals, and had 23 goals and 90 assists in 236 games with Milwaukee. Blum, a first-round draft pick by the Predators in 2007, was the Canadian Major Junior defenseman of the year in 2009, while tallying 16 goals and 50 assists with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League. A California native, he also played for Team USA at the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Championships. Landry, 30, had eight goals, 25 assists and 57 penalty minutes in 72 games last season for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL, an affiliate of the New York Islanders. Landry hasn't appeared in an NHL game. He has 10 goals, 43 assists and 86 penalty minutes in 108 career AHL games with Bridgeport and the Portland Pirates.
