So, let's take a look at the week that was in the latest edition of the Wild Prospect Tracker.
THREE STARS
Chase Lang, C, Vancouver (WHL)
STATS: 5G, 1A
The 19 year old winger picked up a hat trick last week against the Kelowna Rockets, scoring three consecutive goals, yet somehow managed a minus-1 rating in a 6-5 win. Lang added another goal and an assist in a win over Kelowna on Saturday, before scoring in a win over Kamloops. Lang now leads the Giants in scoring with 62 points.
Louis Belpedio, D, Miami (NCHC)
STATS: 2A
The leader of the Redhawks' defensive corps, Belpedio picked up a pair of assists and earned a plus-2 rating, as Miami battled to a series split with NCHC foe Western Michigan. Critically, Belpedio anchored Miami's penalty kill to a big outing on the weekend, as they allowed just one goal on nine power play chances for the Broncos.
Jordan Greenway, LW, Boston University (Hockey East)
STATS: 3A
It was a critical weekend of conference play for BU, as the Terriers picked up three of a possible four points against New Hampshire to keep pace with the league leaders as the regular season comes to a close. Greenway was a big part of the effort, picking up two assists in a 3-all tie on Friday, including a late goal that nearly won it for the Terriers, before assisting on the game-winner on Saturday.
THE SIN BIN
Mario Lucia, LW, Notre Dame (Hockey East)
Speaking of the Hockey East title race, the Fighting Irish missed out on a huge opportunity to overtake No. 5-ranked Providence for second place, falling 3-2, 3-1 to the Friars last weekend. Lucia was nowhere to be found on the scoresheet, while Notre Dame now faces an uphill battle the rest of the way with No. 2-ranked Boston College now leading by three points.
Carson Soucy, D, Minnesota-Duluth (NCHC)
Apart from the dreaded own-goal, this might be the worst case scenario for a defenseman. The Bulldogs were locked in an overtime slugfest with No. 4-ranked North Dakota, when Soucy dragged UND's Austin Poganski to the ice following a partial breakaway on a botched play at Duluth's blue line. Poganski would score on the ensuing penalty shot to give the Fighting Hawks a 2-1 win.
