The WIAA Division 6 football title game turned out to be a dream for Regis and a nightmare for Darlington.

Regis held down a Darlington offense which was averaging Darlington 54.2 points and 392 rushing yards per game, winning 27-14. The Redbirds, which lost in the title game for the fourth straight year, rushed for just 110 yards and were intercepted four Darlington passes, with 5-foot-5 Caleb Brickner picking off two.

Led by that strong defensive play and a steady offense, the Ramblers took a 20-0 lead at the half and pushed it to 27-0 before holding off a late charge.

Redbirds running back Hunter Johnson, a Wisconsin Badgers walk-on commit, finished with 94 yards on 17 carries, but couldn't get anything going on the ground until the game was out of hand. Johnson scored Darlington's first touchdown, his 45th on the year, with 6:19 to play.
