Sam Santiago-Lloyd set a WIAA Division 2 championship game record, rushing for five touchdowns to help lead Brookfield East to its first title.

The Spartans running back rushed for 197 yards on a Division 2-record 37 carries as Brookfield East downed Monona Grove 42-36.

Brookfield East ran for 378 yards as quarterback Jake Graf added 179 yards on 25 carries.

Monona Grove took a 21-14 lead on Andryi Nahirniak's 80-yard touchdown reception, but Brookfield East tied the game right before the half and took a two-touchdown lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Sanitago-Lloyd's final TD with 2:31 left apparently put the game on ice, but a Frankie Langer 3-yard TD catch plus a two-point conversion gave Monona Grove some hope, but Brookfield East recovered an onside kick to all but kill the Silver Eagles' chances.
