Why you should never leave a game early - UC vs Pitt, 2009

In case you missed it, between 2,000 and 5,000 Miami Heat fans left Game 6 last night early, assuming their team had lost the NBA Championship to San Antonio. After learning the Heat had tied the game up and were playing in overtime, they tried to force their way back in.
Here's yet another reason why fans should NEVER leave a game early…
In 2009, the Cincinnati Bearcats were 11-0 - just one win away from a Big East title and a trip to a BCS Bowl. They went to Pitt, who came in at 9-2, and found themselves in trouble fast.

The Panthers couldn't be stopped early, and in the second quarter they had already built a huge lead of 31-10.
Slowly, but surely, the Bearcats chipped away. Mardy Gilyard took a kickoff back 99 yards for a touchdown to close the first half scoring. Then he hauled in a 68-yard pass from Tony Pike early in the third quarter to cut the deficit down to 31-24.
Pitt would open up a 14-point lead again, but a pair of TDs from D.J. Woods and Isaiah Pead put the Bearcats into a tie halfway through the 4th quarter.
With 1:36 to play, the Panthers scored again and appeared to have won the game. They missed the extra point, but the 44-38 lead looked like it might be secure.
However, it only took Pike four plays to travel all the way down the field, the last 29 coming on a TD pass to Pead. When Jake Rogers' extra point sailed through the uprights, the clock had 39 seconds left on it, and Cincinnati had the win and the 12-0 record.
And the fans were glad they stayed to see it.
