What to watch: Cali homecoming for Bauer

In a road trip that has seen a 14-inning game, Josh Tomlin throw a one-hitter, the Indians getting one hit back-to-back games and the Tribe turning a triple play that needed two replay reviews, can Trevor Bauer cap it off with a happy homecoming?

Bauer, who grew up in Santa Clarita, Calif., and went to college at UCLA, gets to pitch at Dodger Stadium as a Major Leaguer for the first time as the Indians conclude their eight-game road trip.

The right-hander is making his 10th start of the season and is 2-4 with a 4.39 ERA. He's also looking for his first MLB road win in his ninth career road start. Bauer has faced the Dodgers once, when he was a rookie with Arizona in 2011, and got the win with six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while walking one and striking out six.

The Indians are 3-4 on the road trip but bounced back with a 10-3 win on Tuesday night to even the series. They are 7-6 in Interleague play and looking for their first road series win in a three-game set since taking two of three from Tampa Bay May 9-11. In early June Cleveland won three of four in Texas.

The Dodgers, who are a major league-best 13-5 since June 13, are looking for their sixth straight series win.

INDIANS LINEUP: Michael Bourn is getting the day off and Jason Kipnis is batting leadoff in a game for the first time since 2012. The order -- Jason Kipnis 2B, Asdrubal Cabrera SS, Michael Brantley CF, Carlos Santana 1B, Yan Gomes C, Ryan Raburn RF, Lonnie Chisenhall 3B, Mike Aviles LF, Bauer P

DODGERS LINEUP: Dee Gordon 2B, A.J. Ellis C, Andre Ethier CF, Matt Kemp LF,Clint Robinson 1B, Scott Van Slyke RF, Miguel Rojas 3B, Carlos Triunfel SS, Hyun-Jin Ryu P

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: According to SABR, Tuesday's fifth-inning triple play marked only the second 7-2-4 triple play turned in Major League history. The other one was on June 15, 1986, when the White Sox did it in the second inning against the Mariners at the Kingdome. It also was the 32nd triple play in Cleveland history and first since April 3, 2011, against the White Sox

GOMES GETTING DEFENSIVE: Gomes, who was part of the triple play, is tied for the AL lead among catchers with 40 assists. He has thrown out eight of the last 11 attempted basestealers and 18 of 53 this season. This 34 percent success rate is third-best in the AL and fourth-best in the Majors this season. St. Louis' Yadier Molina leads at 48.5 percent followed by Texas' Robinson Chirinos (46.3 percent) and the Yankees Brian McCann (40 percent). Gomes also went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI on Tuesday.

LONNIE BASEBALL: Chisenhall, who had two-run homer in the first, is third on the team in RBI (38) and tied for third in homers (nine) despite having just the eighth-most at-bats. He is batting .344 this season, which is second in the AL and third in the Majors among players with a minimum of 200 plate appearances. He is just five plate appearances shy of the pace necessary of qualifying for the league leaders.

DODGERS STARTER: Ryu (9-4, 3.12), a left-hander, could tie Zack Greinke (10-4), Cincinnati's Alfredo Simon (10-3) and St. Louis' Adam Wainwright (10-4) for the NL wins lead. The last time the Dodgers had a pitcher reach double-digit wins by the All-Star break was Brad Penny in 2007 but with Greinke, Ryu and Clayton Kershaw (9-2), they have a chance to become the first team since the 2010 Yankees to have three. Dodgers' starting pitchers lead the Majors with a 3.03 ERA and have gone 35 straight games with walking two or fewer batters. If they do that again today, they tie the 2005 Twins for longest streak since 1900.

ON A ROLL: Gordon has four games with three or more hits in his last seven and is 15 of 30 since June 25.
