West Indies restricts South Africa to 122-8 at WT20


NAGPUR, India (AP) West Indies tied down South Africa to 122-8 at the World Twenty20 after captain Darren Sammy won his third successive toss and opted to chase on Friday.
West Indies would make the semifinals with a win.
Opening batsman Quinton de Kock top-scored with 47 off 46 balls but the rest of the batsmen struggled on a slow pitch adjacent to the one in which host India was bowled out for 79 by New Zealand.
Chris Gayle rocked the middle order with his offspin and claimed 2-17 before de Kock put on 50 runs with David Wiese (28).
Dwayne Bravo clean bowled AB de Villiers (10), and had Wiese caught at mid-off to finish with 2-20.
Andre Russell (2-28) rattled de Kock's stumps after dismissing captain Faf du Plessis for 9.
Hashim Amla was run out for 1 in the first over.
