Wells Fargo teams up with FOX Sports West, Kings to score big for LA schools

LOS ANGELES -- FOX Sports West, in partnership with Wells Fargo & Company, one of America's leading community banks, the Partnership for L.A. schools and the Los Angeles Kings announced today they are teaming up for a second season to "Score One for LA's Kids." The campaign will help donate $1,000 for every goal scored by the Kings in the regular season in support of teacher development programs at Partnership schools. During last year's campaign, $150,000 was raised for technology in the classroom, which impacted up to 12,000 students.
Specifically, funds raised this season will go toward specialized teacher development programs for Partnership teachers who work in L.A.'s toughest neighborhoods and in classrooms where a student can be up to five grade levels behind and class sizes exceed 35 students. Given these special circumstances, Partnership teachers need extra support to be more effective. The programs will provide teachers with the tools and training they need to close the achievement gap faster among their students and revolutionize teaching in L.A. by developing a core group of teachers who can help change the culture at their schools to positively impact student academic success.
This year a new component has been added to the campaign in which Kings fans can also make donations using their cell phones by texting the word GOAL to 68494. Fans can also track the campaign's success by visiting www.PartnershipLA.org/ScoreOne.
So far the Kings have scored 42 goals since Dec. 2, bringing the total amount raised to $42,000. The text-to-pledge campaign will be promoted on FOX Sports West via on-air spots that will be broadcast during LA Kings games.
