Football can be a wonderful and cruel game.

Week 13 of the NFL brought the normal share of great plays and glorious failures. So, let's take a minute to run down some of the more notable moments from Sunday's action.

1. Andy Dalton

Every team wants the start a game off right, but the Cincinnati Bengals player stepped in it on the first play of the game.

Yup, that's an interception. Not good.

2. Tre Mason

The rookie running back out of Auburn got the start on Sunday in place of Zac Stacy and he made the most out of it. Check out the afterburners he displays as he takes this Shaun Hill pass and outruns everyone to the end zone.

You can't teach that speed.

3. Tre Mason

Oh, the young man wasn't done. A short while after his first touchdown, Mason took a handoff and found some daylight.

That's an 89-yard touchdown run. Way to go, rook!

4. Andrew Luck

Speaking of starting a game off right, the Colts superstar made a mistake on his very first play from scrimmage:

We'd feel bad for him, but he ended up throwing 5 TD passes in a blowout win over the Washington Redskins. So, no biggie.

5. Torrey Smith

The talented wide receiver grabbed a pair of touchdowns on Sunday, but it was his first one that turned heads.

What's with all the one-handed catches this season?

6. DJ Fluker

The Chargers' huge offensive lineman was just trying to help out on this play, but ...

.. he ended up running into Eddie Royal and knocking the ball loose. Whoops!

7. Nick Toon

It's hard to keep track of all the weapons Drew Brees has to throw to, but Toon did something special on this play:

What a job of taking all those hits and still getting to the end zone. What's more the Saints ended up getting a win in Pittsburgh. Clutch.

8. Jordy Nelson

The Packers were looking for some points just before halftime against the Patriots when Nelson pulled down this Aaron Rodgers pass and got some daylight.

Every points counts against New England.

9. Marqise Lee

FOX Sports NFL Insider Peter Schrager was really high on the Jaguars' rookie wide receiver this week. And for good reason:

Excellent grab from Lee and an even better performance from the Jaguars, who went on to beat the Giants at home.

10. Julio Jones

The Falcons star was matched up against Cardinals' shutdown cornerback Patrick Peterson on Sunday. Well, it seems that Jones has Peterson's number:

Jones had a huge first half against Peterson, racking up more than 100 yards receiving.

11. Omar Bolden

The Broncos' special teamer was covering a punt on Sunday night when he came up with a gift:
