Weaver earns Big Sky honor

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- After ending the regular season on the road with two wins against Montana and Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona's senior goalkeeper Lauren Weaver has been named this week's Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
Weaver had an excellent weekend, allowing only one goal in 180 minutes of play to help the Lumberjacks finish in second place in the Big Sky Conference. Weaver and the rest of the Lumberjacks' defense shut out Eastern Washington to record Weaver's eighth shutout of the season and her 19th of her career. The senior from Winnetka, Calif. had to deal with 32 shots and 12 on goal while only allowing one goal.
During the Lumberjacks' four-game winning streak, Weaver has allowed only one goal in 360 minutes and has recorded three shutouts.
During Friday's match against Montana, Weaver recorded five saves, which put her second all-time in NAU history with career saves. The senior ended the weekend with 303 career saves, 18 saves behind the all-time record held by Tori Rocke.
Weaver has lowered her goals against average to 0.89 for the season.
The Lumberjacks will prepare this week for their Big Sky playoff matchup against Weber State on Nov. 7 in Portland, Ore.
