Waterway Run, Five Iron win stakes at Belmont

NEW YORK (AP) Waterway Run and Five Iron won the $150,000 grass stakes Saturday at Belmont Park.

Waterway Run, the 2-1 favorite, edged Orion Moon by a neck in the Beaugay for fillies and mares. Jose Lezcano rode for trainer Chad Brown as the 4-year-old improved to 4 for 11. She paid $6.60 to win.

The time was 1:42.75 for 1 1/16 miles.

Five Iron pulled a 19-1 upset in the Fort Marcy, beating Summer Front by one length. Mike Luzzi guided the 4-year-old trained by Brian Lynch to his fifth win in 14 starts. He ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:48.30, paying $41.40 to win.
