Tim Lincecum did not have a great start against the Reds in Cincinnati on Thursday night, but at least he invented a new type of pitch.

That was not one of the 53 strikes (on 99 pitches) the Giants righty threw on a night he walked five and allowed three runs on five hits in only 4 2/3 innings.

We're not sure if this will catch on, but we are impressed with his ability to get it close enough to the plate for Buster Posey to catch it. That could have ended a lot worse.
