There will be competition at long snapper for the Minnesota Vikings this year.

Longtime long snapper Cullen Loeffler re-signed with Minnesota earlier in the offseason to continue his tenure as the longest tenured member of the team. The Vikings signed long snapper Kevin McDermott to a contract, the team announced Monday.

McDermott, 25, played seven games last season for the Baltimore Ravens. A former undrafted free agent, McDermott was a teammate of Minnesota punter Jeff Locke at UCLA.

Loeffler, 34, re-signed for one season. He's been the Vikings' long snapper since 2004, missing only five games in his time with Minnesota.

McDermott played in all 16 games with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013.
