Vikings make roster moves, activate safety Harrison Smith

EDEN PRAIRIE -- The Vikings shuffled their roster around Saturday, on the eve of a home contest with Philadelphia.

Minnesota activated standout safety Harrison Smith from the Injured Reserve - Designated for Return list. Smith, a second-year player out of Notre Dame, had been out since mid-October due to a toe injury. Smith has 34 total tackles in 2013, to go along with two interceptions.

Also of note, the Vikings placed second-year cornerback Josh Robinson on injured reserve. The second-year defensive back from Central Florida had been dealing with a chest injury.

Minnesota signed two players from the practice squad Saturday, in running back Joe Banyard and cornerback Robert Steeples. Banyard is a former Texas-El Paso standout with one year of pro experience; Steeples is a rookie defensive back who played collegiately at Memphis.

Finally, the Vikings waived tackle Mike Remmers to round out their roster leading up to Sunday's game.
