Vikings honor their 50 greatest players

MINNEAPOLIS -- All season the Vikings have been celebrating the 50th anniversary of the franchise -- Sunday night was the banquet for the 50 greatest players in team history. Players flew in from all over the country to attend the ceremony at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Greats like Anthony Carter, Tommy Kramer, Keith Millard and Fran Tarkenton took the time to speak with FOXSportsNorth.com.

"I recognized most of them and some of them I haven't seen since I retired in '78. I still recognize them though, which is a good thing." said Tarkenton.

Former wide receiver Ahmad Rashad said, "I'm so honored and excited about it. It is one thing to know and read about history, and it's another thing to be a part of it. Also to see all these guys from all different eras is a beautiful thing."

Millard, a defensive tackle who played with Minnesota from 1985-91, said, "This means more to me to be on this list because it is fan-voted. It's an honor to be on this list because of the short career I had, and seeing everyone here, it is almost like I never left."

Kramer joked, "I love the warm weather, don't get me wrong, but it is an honor to come back here and be on that stage."

The culmination of the ceremony will happen Monday night as the players are honored at the TCF Bank Stadium before the Vikings-Bears game.
