Vikings activate Cook from injured reserve

The Minnesota Vikings activated Chris Cook on Saturday, taking the cornerback off injured reserve and making him eligible to play Sunday against the Houston Texans. Cook has been sidelined since Week 8, when he broke his arm tackling Tampa Bay's Doug Martin. He started the first eight games this season, tallying 31 tackles, a sack and 12 passes defensed. The 6-foot-2 Cook will be limited in his reps, Minnesota defensive coordinator Alan Williams said earlier in the week, but his 6-foot-2 size will be needed Sunday against Houston's 6-3 wide receiver Andre Johnson. Also Saturday, the Vikings signed defensive end George Johnson to the 53-man practice squad and waived tight end Allen Reisner and guard Mark Asper. Johnson, 24, spent parts of three seasons with Tampa Bay, finishing last season on injured reserve with a knee injury before playing in five games as a Buccaneer this year.
