Victoria posts 258 in 50-over tour match vs. South Africa

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) South Africa's batsman are certain of a good workout against the pink ball and under lights after Victoria made 258, batting first Saturday in a day-night tour match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Young batsmen Seb Gotch (53) and Matthew Short (52) made half centuries in a 79-run fourth wicket partnership as Victoria rallied from 47-3 to post a competitive total. Sam Harper also helped the recovery with 41 before allrounder Evan Gulbis smashed 53 from 28 balls at No.8.
Left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi staked a claim for a debut in the third test against Australia at Adelaide - which will be played under lights with a pink ball - when he took 4-72 from 12 overs in Saturday's 50 overs match.
Test fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took 3-37.
