Verlander, Price, Melville don special attire in 'best round' of golf
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Forget the shot heard round the world, how about the golf attire that went viral?
Tigers fans who follow Justin Verlander on Twitter (@JustinVerlander) saw that he, David Price (@DAVIDprice14), Tim Melville (@TimsMelville) wore very special outfits for their round Thursday afternoon at the Club at Eaglebrooke in Lakeland.
"Joe Nathan found them on the internet somewhere and got our sizes right," Melville said in the visitors clubhouse in Port St. Lucie Friday morning. "The first day they came in we modeled them in meetings and everyone got a good kick out of them. That picture went up yesterday online and hopefully it didn't break the internet. Pretty close to it."
Melville said Alburquerque was part of the group but showed up a little late.
"He did dress," Melville said. "He was matching with Verlander. I matched Price and he matched Verlander."

Melville said he generally shoots in the 95-100 range so he was happy to go along with Verlander and Price.
"They were way better than me," Melville said. "I guess Justin and David kind of had their own little side game going on."
As for Alburquerque's game?
"It was his first time out there," Melville said. "He's got the competitive spirit and throws the F-bombs whenever he misses. He's got that part of the golf game down."
Verlander and Price have been golfing together several times this spring.
Melville was asked which one was the better golfer.
"Well, they finished in a tie," Melville said. "Now I said it but we were going to surprise everybody. They're both equal, I think."
Melville, who is not on the Tigers' 40-man roster, was happy to be included in the outing, odd clothing and all.
"Two Cy Young Award winners, you can't get better than that," Melville said. "I was extremely honored. Best round of golf I've ever been a part of. It was great."
