MATSUMOTO, Japan (AP) The United States bounced back from a disappointing loss to beat China 25-23, 25-17, 25-23 Monday at the women's volleyball World Cup.
China had only lost one set in its two opening victories, while the Americans were coming off a 3-2 loss to Serbia in its second match on Sunday.
But Kimberly Hill struck the match-winner with her 14th point of the game - a delicate tip over the net which caught China off guard - and Karsta Lowe had 16 points for the U.S.
That improved the U.S. to third in the standings, while Russia is the only unbeaten team remaining defeating Kenya 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 earlier in Tokyo.
