On the eve of the first day of spring football practice, Ohio State announced football coach Urban Meyer had a short medical procedure over the weekend but is doing well.

The 49-year-old Meyer had a small fluid collection removed to alleviate "intermittent headaches" he had been experiencing in recent weeks, according to a release from the university. It was related to a congenital arachnoid cyst discovered more than 15 years ago while Meyer was an assistant coach at Notre Dame.

The procedure was performed at the OSU medical center, and Meyer is expected to be on the field Tuesday when the Buckeyes begin practice.

Meyer is in this third year as head coach at Ohio State. He took over the Buckeyes' program after taking a year away from coaching to deal with health issues that cropped up toward the end of his tenure as head coach at Florida, where he won two national championships.
