UIL Texas Football Championships on FOX Sports Southwest

Several Texas high school football icons and personalities from the Lone Star state will be part of FOX Sports Southwest's wall-to-wall coverage of this week's UIL Texas High School football state championships from AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Inspirational speeches taped by former players and coaches who experienced high school football in Texas will open each game. Video flashbacks from memorable state championship games also will be interspersed throughout FOX Sports Southwest's coverage that runs from Thursday, Dec. 18 through Saturday, Dec. 20.

Four games are scheduled on Thursday with tripleheaders on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com.

FOX Sports Southwest's game telecasts will open with the "voices of Texas football" recalling their high school memories and talking about the passion that ranks Texas high school football among the best in the nation. Included are:

•  Grant Teaff, Executive Director of the American Football Coaches Association who played at Snyder High School and was an assistant coach at Lubbock High School before enjoying a successful collegiate coaching career at Baylor.

• Earl Campell, nicknamed the Tyler Rose. His powerful running style led John Tyler High School to the 4A championship in 1973. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1977 while at the University of Texas and went on to a Hall of Fame NFL career with the Houston Oilers.

• Jimmy Johnson, two-time Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl winning coach. He earned All-State football honors at Port Arthur Jefferson High School as a two-way lineman.

• Mike Eli, the lead singer of the popular Eli Young Band who played football at Tomball High School. 

FOX Sports Southwest's coverage will feature live game telecasts, shows between games and a wrap up highlight program after the final contest of the postseason. 

Some games will be carried on FOX Sports Southwest Plus due to overlap with NBA games on FOX Sports Southwest (see schedule below). FOX Sports Southwest Plus is used by FOX Sports Southwest to simultaneously show multiple events on two channels and is available to all video providers that carry FOX Sports Southwest.  

FOX Sports GO, the app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content at home or on-the-go, also will live stream the games.  

FOX Sports GO is currently available for iOS, Android, Kindle Fire tablets and Fire phones, select Windows devices, and on desktops through FOXSportsGO.com.  Fans can download the mobile app for free from the iTunes App Store, Google Play, Amazon App Store and Windows Store. Subscribers of participating video providers can enjoy access to live games and events in FOX Sports GO year-round.   

FOX Sports Southwest also will televise a one-hour ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP preview show breaking down all the games on Monday, Dec. 15 at 5:00 p.m. CT (replays on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 9:00 a.m. CT and Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m. CT). 

Craig Way and Randy McIlvoy will split play-by-play duties. They'll be joined by former Port Arthur Jefferson High School and Texas A&M wide receiver Shea Walker, former Graham High School coach Brad McCoy and former Rice University and Houston Texans defensive end N.D. Kalu, who will rotate as analysts.

Erin Hartigan, Emily Reppert and Brooke Bentley will serve as sideline reporters.

FORD CHAMPIONSHIP LIVE hosted by Ric Renner and Hartigan with recruiting expert Randy Rodgers, Greg Tepper and longtime Texas high school football coach Ken Purcell will anchor the live games from a set at AT&T Stadium.

HIGH SCHOOL SCOREBOARD LIVE on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 11:00 p.m. CT wraps up FOX Sports Southwest's extensive coverage with highlights and recaps from all championship games.
