UGA's Murray becomes SEC's touchdowns king

Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, already the SEC's most prolific passer of all time, made history again on Saturday, eclipsing Danny Wuerffel's conference record for career touchdowns.
Early in the second quarter against Appalachian State, Murray found junior Michael Benett for the record-clinching score (No. 115), a 23-yard touchdown pass that resulted in Bennett taking a crushing hit at end of the catch.
For the day, Georgia turned a slight halftime advantage (eight points) into a 45-6 rout of Appalachian State.

With 4:53 left in the first quarter, Murray connected with senior Rantavious Wooten on a 35-yard scoring pass, tying Wuerffel's touchdowns record.
In four seasons with the Gators (1993-96), Wuerrfel passed for 10,875 yards and 114 touchdowns, while earning All-America (1996), SEC Player of the Year (twice — 1995-96) and collecting the prestigious Baugh, Maxwell, Camp, Unitas and O'Brien (twice) awards.
For good measure, Wuerffel — the 1996 Heisman Trophy winner — also guided Florida to four straight SEC titles and a national championship in 1996.
