NEW YORK – Former standout UCLA pitchers Trevor Bauer and Gerrit Cole have been named to the U.S. Team’s roster at the upcoming MLB All-Star Futures Game on July 8 at Chase Field in Phoenix.

The 14th annual Futures game, slated to take place two days before Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game, features both the United States and World rosters, packed with top prospects from all 30 organizations.

Bauer and Cole both starred in UCLA’s starting rotation from 2009-11, helping lead the Bruins to the finals of the College World Series in 2010 and to the 2011 Pac-10 championship, the program’s first outright conference title since 1986. Both pitchers have excelled this year, competing in their first full season of professional baseball.

Bauer, a right-handed pitcher from Valencia, Calif., has gone 11-1 in 15 starts between double-A Mobile and triple-A Reno, within the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization. Bauer has logged 111 strikeouts and 46 walks in 90.1 innings, limiting the opposition to a .221 batting average.

Cole, a right-handed pitcher from Santa Ana, Calif., has compiled a 6-1 with a 2.63 ERA in 14 starts between single-A Bradenton and double-A Altoona. He was recently sent to double-A Altoona, where he earned the win in his first start on June 20, recording six strikeouts in five innings.

Between both teams, Cole has tallied 75 strikeouts and 21 walks in 72.0 innings, limiting the opposition to a .220 batting average.

The 14th annual Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV and ESPN2 and followed live on MLB.com’s Gameday. In addition, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio XM 89. MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game.
