UCLA pulls away from Arizona women

LOS ANGELES -- Sophomore guard Malena Washington nearly equaled her career high in scoring, but it wasn't enough as Arizona lost 75-41 at UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Sunday.
Washington scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including making a career-best three 3-pointers. The performance marked her seventh double-figure scoring outing of the season.
Sophomore forward LaBrittney Jones provided a lift off the bench, scoring eight points and pulling down a team-high six rebounds in 25 minutes.
Arizona (9-18, 2-14 Pac-12) forced UCLA (11-16, 7-9 Pac-12) into 18 turnovers, while the Wildcats' reserves accounted for 46 percent of UA's points.
UA knocked down three of its first four shots from the field to claim a 6-2 advantage with 17:54 remaining in the first half, after Washington drained a jumper from the right wing.
Washington then struck again, knocking down a 3-pointer from the top of the arc to give Arizona a 9-5 lead with 16:45 left in the half.
UCLA took control from there. The Bruins closed out the half on a 16-7 run to take a 40-23 lead into the intermission.
UCLA caught fire offensively in the second half, as it knocked down 16 of 32 shots en route to the victory.
The Wildcats will conclude the regular season with home contests against Colorado on Friday and vs. Utah on Sunday.
