UA soccer rallies to beat Houston, even record

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona women’s soccer team picked up its third win of the season Sunday, beating Houston 2-1 at the Sun Devil Desert Classic.
Houston (3-4) got on the board first in the 27th minute on a Jasmine Martinez goal that was assisted by Kylie Cook. The lead stayed 1-0 until Arizona responded the 55th
minute, when Brie DeFelice scored on a rebound off the
Houston goalkeeper. With 24 minutes left in the game, Alex Smith scored
the winner for the Wildcats on of a penalty kick.
Arizona (3-3) came out aggressive on offense, registering a total of 20 shots, including 14 on goal. Freshman Hannah Wong led the team with four shots on goal, while both Julia Glanz and Jazmin Ponce each registered two shots on goal.
"We started off slow," head coach Lisa Oyen said. "We were able to regroup and play how we wanted to in the second half. I give credit to our players to get our goal; they did a great job in creating opportunities. They are committed as a group to get to the level of play we want to be at."
In net, Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman recorded three saves while Houston goalkeeper Cami Koski registered 12 saves.
