UA soccer dominated by No. 23 Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Arizona women’s soccer team lost 5-1 to No. 23 Oregon State on Sunday.  

UA (5-9-3) scored its only goal of the game in the 29th minute of action, as junior forward Jazmin Ponce buried a free kick from outside of the goal box. The Wildcats registered a total of 13 shots throughout the match, with Ponce leading the team with four and Susana Melendez adding two.  

Oregon State (11-4-2) came out strong on offense, registering three of the five goals in the first half of the match. Both Jenna Richardson and Megan Miller recorded two goals, while teammate Brandi Dawson added one. The Beavers outshot the Wildcats 18-13, with Jenna Richardson leading the team with five shot attempts.

In net, both Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman and Oregon State goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme registered four saves.
