With 100 or so days left until real college football games return to our lives, countdowns have begun in various places around the Internet. In the meantime, we still have to get by on stories about grammar and spelling, or -- if we're really lucky -- both!
That is the case today thanks to Michigan's football recruiting efforts.
The Wolverine coaching staff is among many courting Mike Weber, a four-star running back from Cass Tech, a notable source of talent in Detroit for many Big Ten programs. And like others around the country, the Michigan staff has taken to creating (or more likely hiring someone to create) cool graphics to help their efforts in attracting talent.
While computer advances make these kinds of things easier and easier to produce, sometimes nothing beats a good old-fashioned proofread, as evidenced by the stated goal of making Weber an "All-Amercian" player in maize and blue.

As it has for much of the time since the turn of the century, though, Michigan might just be trying to follow Ohio State's lead here as representatives for the Buckeyes made a similar mistake a few years back in the team's football media guide.

The errors don't end with the school, however, as the Michigan miscue was brought to light by ESPN.com, where it was mislabeled as a grammar gaffe as opposed to a misspelling.

In a very convenient turn of events, current ESPN and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit provided an example of a grammar mistake while listing some potential national stories later Wednesday morning.
Needless to say, the season and some actual news can't get here soon enough, but it's nice to have something to pass the time, eh?
