MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins optioned right-hander Jeff Manship to Triple-A Rochester and recalled right-hander Kyle Waldrop after Wednesday's game. Waldrop will join the Twins for Friday's series opener against Kansas City.
Manship allowed three runs on five hits in one inning of relief in Wednesday's 12-5 loss to the White Sox. It raised his ERA on the season to 10.97 (13 runs in 10 2/3 innings).
Waldrop was placed on the disabled list at the end of March with a right elbow strain. He was taken off the DL on June 1 and sent to Triple-A Rochester for a rehab start. In nine games with the Red Wings, Waldrop posted a 1.26 ERA in 14.1 innings.
