This week's FOXSportsNorth.com Minor League Star of the Week is Cedar Rapids Kernels starter Sam Gibbons.

Gibbons, who hails from the state of Victoria in southeastern Australia, had a sterling performance last Saturday, throwing a one-hitter through eight innings, while striking out 12 and avoiding any walks, at Clinton. The Kernels won, 2-0, as a result.

Here's a look at what Gibbons and the rest of this week's minor-league stars did throughout the Minnesota Twins' farm system.

TRIPLE-A ROCHESTER

Player of the Week: C Eric Fryer

2015 stats: .297/.374/.363, 6 2B, 18 RBI in 64 games

Recent highlights: Fryer, 30, has hit .341 (14 for 41) over his last ten games, with a pair of three-hit games during that stretch. Could a September call-up be in store for Fryer, who played seven games earlier this season for Minnesota? We'll find out relatively soon.

Pitcher of the Week: LHP Logan Darnell

2015 stats: 4-1, 3.05 ERA, 65 IP, 55 K, 24 BB

Recent highlights: Darnell was dominant at Syracuse on Monday, throwing nine scoreless innings, scattering five hits and striking out nine while issuing nary a free pass. The 26-year-old might be a fringe candidate to be called up by the Twins when rosters expand Sept. 1.

DOUBLE-A CHATTANOOGA

Player of the Week: 2B Levi Michael

2015 stats: .266/.368/.443, 5 3B, 30 RBI in 58 games

Recent highlights: A former first-round draft pick in 2011 out of North Carolina, Michael has hit .321 over the last month. In the last 10 days, the 24-year-old switch hitter batted .342 (13 for 38), with four multihit games.

Pitcher of the Week: LHP David Hurlbut

2015 stats (overall in minors): 9-7, 3.43 ERA, 105 IP, 62 K, 33 BB

Recent highlights: Hurlbut is 6-2 since July 8 and he owns a 2.59 ERA over his last 10 starts. Last Monday against Tennessee, the 25-year-old left-hander went six innings, scattering seven hits while yielding just two runs and striking out four.

HIGH-A FORT MYERS

Player of the Week: 2B Logan Wade

2015 stats: .252/.288/.361, 18 2B, 30 RBI

Recent highlights: Logan, a 23-year-old Australian, is a repeat winner of these weekly accolades, because he's simply the hottest hitter on the Miracle's roster right now. In the past 10 days, the switch hitter has gone 14 for 38 (.368) at the plate.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Zach Jones

2015 stats (overall in minors): 5-4, 4.66 ERA, 46 1/3 IP, 61 K, 27 BB

Recent highlights: Jones, a fourth-round draft pick in 2012, has slowly ascended of late. The 24-year-old right-hander has a .206 opponent batting average this season and, since Sunday, has produced a pair of scoreless appearances, totaling 2 2/3 innings pitched in which he had four total strikeouts and zero walks.

LOW-A CEDAR RAPIDS

Player of the Week: SS Sean Miller

2015 stats: .281/.317/.316, 2 2B, 5 RBI in 30 games

Recent highlights: Over the last week, the 20-year-old Miller has raked, going 9 for 22 (.409) at the plate. He had a truly memorable outing on Monday, going 5 for 6 with four runs scored and an RBI in Cedar Rapids' 23-3 blowout win versus Peoria.

Pitcher of the Week: RHP Sam Gibbons

2015 stats: 7-3, 2.72 ERA, 79 1/3 IP, 63 K, 20 BB

Recent highlights: Gibbons, yet another Australian in the Twins' farm system, kayoed Clinton last Saturday, working eight scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit. Gibbons, a 21-year-old righty, has registered a 1.11 WHIP this season.
