Twins-Blue Jays postponed, doubleheader set for Thursday

MINNEAPOLIS -- Wednesday's game between the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field has been postponed due to weather. The two teams will play a split day-night doubleheader on Thursday, with the first game beginning at 12:10 p.m. and the second set for a 6:10 p.m. start.

Snow fell in the Twin Cities during the day on Wednesday, and projected temperatures for the start of the 7 p.m. CT game were in the mid- to low-30s with more than a 50 percent chance of precipitation. Team officials met Wednesday morning before deciding just before noon to postpone the second game of the three-game series.

Minnesota right-hander Mike Pelfrey was scheduled to start Wednesday's game for the Twins, while Toronto was set to roll out knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. The two were former teammates with the New York Mets. Right-handers Kyle Gibson and Dustin McGowan were originally scheduled to pitch the series finale Thursday for Minnesota and Toronto, respectively.

This is the ninth postponed game in the five-year history of Target Field, an outdoor ballpark downtown Minneapolis that opened in 2010. Fans with tickets for Wednesday's postponed game can either use it for Thursday night's rescheduled game or exchange them for tickets to a future regular-season game in 2014.

Toronto won the first game of the series Tuesday by a 9-3 final to improve to 8-6 on the season. With the loss, the Twins dropped to 6-7 on the year and 3-4 at home.

Tonight's Timberwolves-Jazz game will now be broadcast on both FOX Sports North and FOX Sports North PLUS beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Wolves Live.
