Trout, Kershaw named Sportsmen of the Year by LA Sports Council

Angels outfielder Mike Trout and Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw will share the same stage again.
Both were named Sportsmen of the Year, the Los Angeles Sports Council announced on Wednesday. The awards will be presented March 15 as part of the L.A. Sports Awards (which can be seen on FOX Sports West/Prime Ticket on a date and time TBD).
Already were both named MVP of the American League and National League, respectively. Kershaw was the first pitcher to win NL MVP honors since 1968.
Trout hit 36 home runs and 111 RBI to lead the Angels to the best record in baseball last season with 94 victories. He was the unanimous winner of the MVP and also was named MVP of the All-Star Game.
Kershaw was 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA -- the lowest for a starter in more than a decade -- and a no-hitter. He was won the Cy Young Award as well.
Trout and Kershaw do much for charity, their communities and fans.
The sportsman of the year award is given to the local male athlete whose performance and character best exemplified the ideals of sportsmanship during 2014.

The L.A. Sports Awards dinner and gala is March 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The ceremony will also honor a sportswoman of the year, coach, executive and the city's top-10 sports moments.
This is the second time Kershaw has won the sportsman of the year. Last year, Clippers star guard Chris Paul won the award.
Jonathan Quick won in 2012 after leading the Kings to their first Stanley Cup, and former Clipper Elton Brand won in 2006.
