Trouble brewing: Gomez injures wrist

Brewers OF Carlos Gomez left Sunday's game after feeling a "pop" in his left wrist during a third-inning swing. Gomez isn't expected to play today, and though he's listed as day to day right now, he'll have further tests today to determine if he'll need to miss more time. Initial X-rays were negative, and let's hope it's nothing serious.
Sunday's studs & duds
Stud: Nationals OF Bryce Harper had two home runs, two RBI and two runs scored against the Mariners.
Stud: Chris Heisey hit two homers, too? Really?
Stud: Braves SP Alex Wood threw eight scoreless innings against the Marlins, allowing five hits and striking out 12 batters. Wood is now 10-10 with a 2.92 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP.
Dud: Remember how much you loved Scott Kazmir a week ago? He followed up last Sunday's three-inning, seven run outing with an even worse game on Sunday, allowing six runs in one-and-a-third innings. Ugh.
News & notes
Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera didn't play Sunday due to an ankle injury, and is day to day. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday that Cabrera will probably deal with the injury for the rest of the season.
Following his trade from the White Sox, Adam Dunn is expected to be the lefty platoon DH for the A's.
The White Sox also traded OF Alejandro De Aza to the Orioles for two low-level prospects. The White Sox now have an Adam Eaton-Dayan Viciedo-Avisail Garcia outfield, with Andy Wilkins coming up from Triple A to get most of Dunn's 1B/DH at bats. Wilkins is almost 26 and isn't considered a big-time prospect, but he did hit 30 home runs before his Sunday promotion. Snap him up now in AL-only leagues if you need power. He's not mixed league-worthy.
De Aza figures to get part-time at bats for the Orioles, who are waiting for 1B Steve Pearce to return from a strained abdominal muscle.
Rangers SP Derek Holland, who has missed the entire season due to a knee injury, will make his first 2014 start on Tuesday. Holland is owned in five percent of FOXSports.com leagues, and since he hasn't gone beyond five-and-two-thirds innings in his minor-league rehab starts, he'll probably be on a pitch count.
Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (ankle) made a pinch-hitting appearance on Sunday, and should be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
Brewers SP Matt Garza, who has been out since August 3 due to an oblique injury, is listed as Wednesday's probable starter.
A's OF Coco Crisp will remain out for "a few days" with his neck injury, according to the team's website. The A's are expected to get SS Jed Lowrie back from the DL today.
Michael Wacha (shoulder) threw two innings in a Sunday rehab start, and might rejoin the Cardinals' rotation later this week instead of coninuing to rehab in the minors.
In other Cardinals' news, 2B Kolten Wong probably won't play today after hitting his head on the field Sunday while trying to catch a popup. Concussion tests were negative.
Sunday's Indians-Royals game was suspended in the 10th inning, and will resume on September 22.
Streaming starters
Jacob deGrom shut down the Phillies on Friday, Vidal Nuno pitched very well in a Saturday loss, and Danny Duffy was strong in Sunday's suspended game, so we're up to 85-53 for the season. Today's pick is Brewers' rookie Jimmy Nelson (owned in 1.9 percent of FOXSports.com leagues) against the Cubs at Wrigley, and Tuesday's selection is Cleveland's scorching-hot Carlos Carrasco (22.6 percent owned) versus the Tigers. In four starts since rejoining the Indians' rotation, Carrasco has allowed two runs in 24 2/3 innings.
See you back here tomorrow morning.
