Tribe dealing with quick turnaround

Tribe dealing with quick turnaround

CLEVELAND -- The Indians already knew that they were in store for a late arrival today with Sunday's game at Kansas City starting at 8 p.m., but with rain suspending the contest in the 10th inning and the Tribe leading 4-2, they did not land in Cleveland until 3:15 a.m.

That prompted manager Terry Francona to utter during his pregame remarks -- "I feel like one of those fresh daisies on the side of the road that just got run over by a truck."

While it was a late arrival, at least it is not as bad as what Detroit had to encounter here earlier this season. Before the start of their May 19 series, the Tigers didn't get into Cleveland until three hours before the start of the game due to plane trouble in Boston following a Sunday night game.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: When Sunday's suspended game resumes on Sept. 22 at Progressive Field, there are some questions about whether Kyle Crockett will be the pitcher or if the Indians can bring back Cody Allen.

Crockett was announced as the pitcher but didn't throw as umpires called the delay before the bottom of the 10th started.

"We will double-check with the league because of the way the inning unfolded. If I knew they (the umpires) were going to visit like that I wouldn't have brought him in," Francona said.

ROSTER MOVES: With the expanded rosters taking effect today, pitchers Austin Adams and Bryan Price have been brought up from Columbus along with infielder Jesus Aguilar. Designated hitter Jason Giambi has also been active off the 60-day disabled list and catcher Chris Gimenez was reinstated from the paternity list.

Adams and Aguilar are beginning their third stint this season in Cleveland. Adams has appeared in three games and has a 10.81 ERA while Aguilar has gone 3 for 16 with two RBI and a run scored. Price is making his major league debut after splitting the season between Akron and Columbus.
