Oaklawn Park officials have postponed the Southwest Stakes after icy conditions forced the cancellation of the final six races at the Arkansas racetrack.

The $150,000 Southwest has been rescheduled for Saturday. The race for 3-year-olds is one of three preps at the Hot Springs track on the road to the Kentucky Derby on May 1.

The icy conditions Monday made racing unsafe for the jockeys and horses. After the fourth race, jockeys reported that balled up ice was flying from the horses' hooves, and a several of jockeys had broken goggles.

The temperature hovered at about freezing and the area had gotten a little snow overnight.
