IRVING, Texas -- While the Dallas Cowboys have moved on to preparing for Washington, last Sunday's loss to Denver – particularly Tony Romo's interception in the final minutes – are still a popular topic around Valley Ranch.

Putting the interception to the side, setting a franchise record for passing yards understandably has some considering it the best game of Romo's career.

"I don't think you think of it in those terms," Romo said Thursday. "You just keep trying to get better and improve. You want to be able to play games over and over again where you play at a high level. That's the goal."

Romo has obviously heard the criticism, those who say he isn't clutch because of his multiple mistakes late in games. That's where his resiliency comes in. Romo doesn't have time to focus on his interception and the loss to Denver. The Cowboys have two critical games against division opponents coming up over the next 10 days.

"The great thing about sports is you get to compete and you don't always succeed and you don't always fail," Romo said. "The thing about it that's great is that you just got to keep getting better and if you keep getting better eventually you'll achieve your goals or give yourself the best chance to do that.

"To me, that's just the mantra for our football team over and over again, just keep getting better. When the football team and when everyone collectively comes together then you'll be able to do what you want to."

Over the last few days, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, several coaches and teammates have come to the quarterback's defense. Romo says that has occurred because the Cowboys have "a close knit group."

"More than anything I trust those guys," Romo said. "I know they trust me. We have been doing it a long time. You gain people's trust and respect through your work ethic, your production and your commitment.

"We have a bunch of guys in this locker room who bring it every day. I've got their back the entire time. All the things that come about through a season, there are going to be some moments but we believe in each other. It's a good thing."
