Toledo suspends leading scorer after DUI charge

Toledo will play Wednesday night's key Mid-American Conference game against Ohio without leading scorer Justin Drummond, who has been suspended after being charged with driving under the influence on Saturday night.
Drummond is averaging 14.6 points per game for the 20-3 Rockets.
"Although I remain 100 percent supportive of Justin, our players are held to high standards and when they do not live up to those they face consequences," Toledo coach Ted Kowalcyzk said in a statement. "As a result, Justin will not play in Wednesday's game vs. Ohio."
Earlier this season, Kowalczyk called Drummond one of the best leaders he's ever been around.
Toledo lost at Ohio in overtime, 95-90, on Feb. 1. At 8-2 in MAC play, Toledo sits atop the West Division and is even with Akron for the overall lead. Toledo defeated Akron in the only regular-season meeting between the teams; seeding for the MAC tournament is done by overall record and not by division.
A junior from Bowie, Md., Drummond is a transfer from Loyola (Md.) playing in his first season with the Rockets.
