TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Julius Brown had 15 points and 12 assists while J.D. Weatherspoon added 14 points and 11 rebounds in Toledo's 86-71 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday night.

Both teams were looking for their first win in the Mid-American Conference and Toledo's 57.1 percent (28 of 49) overall shooting proved too much for CMU.

Toledo (13-2, 1-1) led 35-27 at halftime and opened the second on a 7-2 run. From there, the Rockets cruised until Chris Fowler's layup capped a 7-0 run for CMU which brought the Chippewas within 68-62.

Toledo called timeout shortly afterward and responded with its own seven-point run to put the game comfortably out of reach.

Fowler led the Chippewas (7-7, 0-2) with 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Braylon Rayson had 15 points and John Simons had 10.
