Tennessee Titans wide receiver said his citation for driving without a valid drivers license was caused by a paperwork and computer snafu.

Britt, who was given a citation after being pulled over on 3rd Ave. in Nashville shortly after 11 p.m., was late for curfew and could face a fine.

Britt told FoxSportsTennessee that the citation came about as a result of a mix-up from some earlier unpaid traffic tickets in New Jersey that had put a hold on his license request in Tennessee.

What happened was that everything was situated, Britt told FoxSportsTennessee. I had a hold on my license in New Jersey, and I lost my Tennessee license. So when I went to get my Tennessee license back, they said youve got a hold. You need to pay for that and bring it back to motor vehicles.

That sounded simple enough, but Britt indicated that he then found his original Tennessee license and said he was told via telephone that everything was OK.

I found my old license, and the lady said that since you found your old license, youre good. But in the computer system, I had an ID [license only]. I gave him the paper, but he [the officer] said youve still got to go bring it in, Britt said.

Britt was arrested in his native New Jersey for $865 in outstanding traffic ticket fines there, but indicated that he had taken care of the matter.

Its been taking care of [in New Jersey]. What it was was me not handing the paper over to the people in the [Department of] Motor Vehicles [in Tennessee], because I found my old license, and I thought I didnt have to do that, Britt said.

Britt had 42 receptions as a rookie last year and topped the Titans with 701 yards in receiving.

Because Britt was late getting back to the hotel where Titans players stay during camp, he will likely face a fine from the team.

He had some issues that he thought were taken care of, and they werent, Coach Jeff Fisher said.

Notes
Rookie QB Rusty Smith was impressive during a two-minute drill on Thursday, hitting Kenny Britt with an extremely accurate deep pass, then found Britt again for a touchdown on a comeback route near the goal line.

Smiths performance was so impressive that even veteran players who werent in during the drill, like receiver Nate Washington came up and congratulated him on his performance.

That made me feel really good, Smith said. WR Paul Williams did not practice on Thursday due to an undisclosed injury. The team backed him down as a precaution, according to Jeff Fisher. Tennessee waived/injured fullback Willie Rose, who has been on the PUP list because of low back issues. The Titans are expected to hold tryouts for potential running back or fullback candidates. They recently had Tatum Bell, Adrian Peterson and Keon Lattimore in for visits. There is the possibility the Titans will look at former Oakland Raider Justin Fargas as well.
