Tischke, Badgers tie Penn State 3-3
One night after falling 5-1 to Penn State, the Wisconsin Badgers rallied from a 3-1 deficit and earned a tie, behind a late goal from junior defenseman Peter Tischke.
Tischke found the back of the net in the final two minutes of the third period to even the game 3-3. Both teams went scoreless in overtime for the draw, but Penn State won the shootout to earn the extra point in the Big Ten standings.
"I thought we battled like crazy tonight," Badgers head coach Tony Granato said. "I thought our compete level was where it needs to be. We had to kill some huge penalties in the third period, one of them was on me on the bench. I liked the way we played."
Two freshmen -- Linus Weissbach and Sean Dhooghe -- also scored for the Badgers.
Wisconsin moves to 10-10-3 overall and 4-6-2 in the conference. The Badgers haven’t won a Big Ten matchup since a 3-2 victory over Minnesota on Dec. 2.
The Badgers return to the Kohl Center for a weekend series with Michigan State, Jan. 12-13.
