Tigers shortstop Iglesias finally returns to game action

LAKELAND, FLA. -- It's been more than a year since Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias played in an actual game.
Well, it was just an exhibition game Monday afternoon against the Florida Southern Moccasins, but Iglesias enjoyed it.
"I was really excited first time back on the field so really happy," Iglesias said after the Tigers' 12-2 victory.
Iglesias played one inning, grounding out to first in his only at-bat and catching a pop-up to end the first inning.
Iglesias said it wasn't quite like riding a bike.
"It's fun, it's baseball," he said. "But eventually I'm going to get my rhythm back when I get some more games and stuff like that. Otherwise, it's a great feeling to be back out there, and just being in the uniform is amazing."
The Tigers are going to ease Iglesias into everything after he missed the entire 2014 seasons with bilateral tibial stress fractures.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Iglesias wouldn't play Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles in the Grapefruit League opener.
"I would love to play in every single game, but I gotta be smart about it and take it step by step," Iglesias said.
