Tigers recall VerHagen, option Marte to Triple-A Toledo

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Detroit Tigers have recalled right-hander Drew VerHagen from Triple-A Toledo and optioned infielder Jefry Marte to the minor league club.

The Tigers announced the moves before Wednesday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

In one appearance for the Tigers, VerHagen gave up two runs and four walks in one inning against Toronto on July 5. He is a combined 3-3 with a 3.41 ERA and three saves in 20 appearances between Double-A Erie and Toledo.

Marte was batting .250 with three homers and seven RBIs in 21 games for the Tigers.
